CRRT's Meeting With BHP Billiton

In April 10th, 2009; Mr. Mam Sambath, Executive Director of Development and Partnership in Actions and Chairperson of CRRT along with CRRT's Coordinator and other partners met BHP Billiton’s Project and ERW Risk Manager, Mr. Dave McCracken.
Although, little information has been disclosed by EI Companies in Cambodia until now; CRRT viewed the meeting with BHP Billiton as a stepping stone for positive dialogue between civil society and EI Company. CRRT wishes to see major EI companies operate in an honest and transparent manner, making public all relevant financial information, such as contracts with, and payments to, the RGC, as well as information concerning operational progress.
The objective of the meeting was to build relationship between CRRT's secretariat and Extractive Industries Company and to seek information on BHP’s operational progress in Cambodia.
Experience Sharing Session on Transparency in Extractive Industries in Timor Leste

The Honorary Mr. Jose Teixeira, a former Minister of Natural Resources, Minerals and Energy and a current Member of East Timor Parliamentary is a key player in Extractive Industries in Timor-Leste who possesses a strong knowledge in oil and gas-generated revenue management and praises and supports civil society's engagement in revenue management.
In February 2009, The Honorary Mr. Jose Teixeira made an unofficial visit to CRRT in Cambodia as part of knowledge sharing and capacity building with civil society who is working on promoting transparency on revenue from oil gas and mining.
With CRRT's coordination, Youth Resource Development Programme invited Mr. Jose Teixeira to host an experience sharing session on Transparency in Extractive Industries in Timor Leste, Pannasastra International School’s conference room. This presentation attracted around 200 youths who have interest in Extractive Industries.
During his presentation, the Honorary Mr. Jose Teixeira addressed the issues of petroleum fund and its management, role of civil society in promoting transparency in EI revenue and role of civil society to involve with EI.
The session served as an open ground for free dialogue between concerned youths and international expert for future critical thinking on the issues and international networking.
The session was followed by a pool of questions from concerned youths who seeks to see how Cambodia's future resources revenues could be well-managed with transparency and accountability to benefit Cambodian as a whole.
